Power Grid

The Power Plant fuse boxes power map-wide monument machines across 4 grid stages using 1 to 18 Heavy Fuses.

How a power grid works

  • The grid lives in two fuse boxes at the Power Plant, with 20 sockets between them, and they only take Heavy Fuses.
  • Its reach is the whole map, with no radius: every machine tied to the grid gets the new stage the moment it changes, the ones nearest the Power Plant first.
  • Fuses wear down. The three in the worst condition break within 2 h 40 min, the others wear at 8% to 12% of that pace, and a fuse that breaks drops out of its box.
  • A map without a Power Plant has no grid at all, and it stays at stage 0 for the whole wipe.

How the monument Power Grid works in Rust

On procedural Rust server maps, Power Grid appears as 2 permanent world fixtures distributed across 1 monument compound. Unlike player-built workshop furniture placed inside a private base, these public monument installations remain bolted to the map terrain across the entire wipe and can be operated by any visiting survivor without Tool Cupboard authorization.

Power Grid monument locations, grid stages and efficiency

Monument placement tables, fuel or material conversion rates, and base-deployable comparisons above document where Power Grid stands on every procedural map seed and how its public utility mechanics compare against player-crafted stations.

  • Map placement density (2 fixtures): Bolted into 1 land or coastal radtown layout on every procedural seed.
  • Structural hitpoints and pickup rules: Invulnerable world fixture; immune to rockets, C4, melee tools, and siege weapons, and cannot be picked up with a Hammer.
  • Electrical grid and fuel requirements: Central fuse box network at Power Plant where Heavy Fuses energize four sequential map-wide power stages.
  • Base crafting and deployable comparison: Exclusive to procedural monument compounds with no craftable base equivalent in vanilla survival.
  • Public access and PvP considerations: Open to all players without building privilege, making surrounding sightlines, safe-zone turrets, and cycle timers critical during loot runs.

Frequently asked questions

How many Power Grid units spawn at Rust monuments?

Vanilla Rust monument layouts mount 2 permanent stations of this type across 1 mainland or coastal monument, giving solo survivors and groups reliable public station access across every procedural map seed and server wipe.

How much health does Power Grid have at a Rust monument?

The monument fixture of Power Grid is indestructible in Rust, so visiting players cannot damage, pick up, or destroy the public station with explosives, melee tools, or siege weapons during a wipe.

How does Power Grid operate at a Rust monument?

Placing 1, 4, 10, or 18 Heavy Fuses into the Power Plant fuse boxes advances Stages 1 through 4 of the map-wide electrical grid, energizing monument floodlights, green recyclers, Dome oil taps, and the red recycler.

Does Power Grid depend on the Power Plant electrical grid in Rust?

As the master generator for the entire island, the Power Plant Electrical Grid does not rely on an external station; instead, its own Heavy Fuse boxes drive all four electrical stages across connected monuments.

Which Rust monuments have Power Grid built into their layout?

Monument compounds housing this station include Power Plant (2 total units across 1 site), giving solo survivors and groups permanent public access at those fixed coordinates throughout every procedural server wipe.

Can players craft and place their own version of Power Grid inside a base?

Power Grid has no craftable base counterpart in vanilla Rust; it exists solely as a world installation bolted into monument terrain across its 2 monument placements, giving visitors free public access.

How does Power Grid compare to the other 16 monument machines in Rust?

Power Grid is 1 of 17 interactive monument station types indexed in the RustPotato Environment directory, alongside yellow, green, and red recyclers, Level 1 and 2 workbenches, diesel quarries, pumpjacks, the Giant Excavator, and public utility benches.
