How a crude producer works

  • Each tap asks for grid stage 1 and an oil switch that is on. The oil switch is the timer on an oil rig, and the generator behind that timer only has power from stage 3, so in practice the taps need stage 3.
  • One press of a rig timer keeps its switch on for 20 min. Both rigs can be on at once, and their outputs add up.
  • A tap collects every 20 to 22s, and what it gets depends on which rigs are switched on.
  • Each tap holds up to 1,000 crude oil and stops filling when it is full.
  • On a server with no Power Plant grid the timers get no power, and the taps never run.

How the monument Crude Producer works in Rust

On procedural Rust server maps, Crude Producer appears as 3 permanent world fixtures distributed across 1 monument compound. Unlike player-built workshop furniture placed inside a private base, these public monument installations remain bolted to the map terrain across the entire wipe and can be operated by any visiting survivor without Tool Cupboard authorization.

Crude Producer monument locations, grid stages and efficiency

Running this installation at full capacity requires energizing stage 3 of the mainland electrical network by placing 10 Heavy Fuses into the Power Plant control boxes. Monument placement tables, cycle intervals, and output rates above help squads time their fuse runs and resource collection windows during a wipe.

  • Map placement density (3 fixtures): Bolted into 1 land or coastal radtown layout on every procedural seed.
  • Structural hitpoints and pickup rules: Invulnerable world fixture; immune to rockets, C4, melee tools, and siege weapons, and cannot be picked up with a Hammer.
  • Electrical grid and fuel requirements: Linked to electrical network stage 3, requiring 10 Heavy Fuses at Power Plant before activation.
  • Base crafting and deployable comparison: Exclusive to procedural monument compounds with no craftable base equivalent in vanilla survival.
  • Public access and PvP considerations: Open to all players without building privilege, making surrounding sightlines, safe-zone turrets, and cycle timers critical during loot runs.

Frequently asked questions

How many Crude Producer units spawn at Rust monuments?

Vanilla Rust monument layouts mount 3 permanent stations of this type across 1 mainland or coastal monument, giving solo survivors and groups reliable public station access across every procedural map seed and server wipe.

How much health does Crude Producer have at a Rust monument?

The monument fixture of Crude Producer is indestructible in Rust, so visiting players cannot damage, pick up, or destroy the public station with explosives, melee tools, or siege weapons during a wipe.

How does Crude Producer operate at a Rust monument?

Once 10 Heavy Fuses are slotted at Power Plant to reach electrical grid Stage 3, the two Dome Oil Output taps atop the spherical tank dispense Crude Oil over time for visiting players.

Does Crude Producer depend on the Power Plant electrical grid in Rust?

Crude Producer requires Power Plant electrical grid Stage 3 (10 active Heavy Fuses in the Power Plant fuse boxes) to run at rated output across the procedural map.

Which Rust monuments have Crude Producer built into their layout?

Monument compounds housing this station include The Dome (3 total units across 1 site), giving solo survivors and groups permanent public access at those fixed coordinates throughout every procedural server wipe.

Can players craft and place their own version of Crude Producer inside a base?

Crude Producer has no craftable base counterpart in vanilla Rust; it exists solely as a world installation bolted into monument terrain across its 3 monument placements, giving visitors free public access.

How does Crude Producer compare to the other 16 monument machines in Rust?

Crude Producer is 1 of 17 interactive monument station types indexed in the RustPotato Environment directory, alongside yellow, green, and red recyclers, Level 1 and 2 workbenches, diesel quarries, pumpjacks, the Giant Excavator, and public utility benches.
