How Rust's table plays

100 to 1,000 Scrap
Blinds
5 / 10 Scrap fixed, no ante
Each turn
30 s then your hand is folded
Rake
None the whole pot is paid out
  • The card table deals no-limit Texas Hold'em with the standard hand ranking: the best five cards out of your seven.
  • A hand takes 2 to 6 players, depending on the table: tables with 2, 3, 4, and 6 seats exist.
  • You need between 100 and 1,000 scrap to sit down, and at least 10 to be dealt into a hand.
  • The blinds are fixed at 5 and 10. There is no ante and no rake: the whole pot goes to the players.
  • Each turn has 30 seconds. Run out of time and your hand is folded, even when checking was free.
  • Before the flop, the first raise only has to reach 15.
  • A split pot is rounded up for the first winners in seat order, so the last one can get a little less: 40 split between 3 winners pays 14, 14, and 12.
  • Fold or leave the table in the middle of a hand, and whatever you put in that another player matched stays in the pot for the winner.

No side pots

The table keeps no side pots: the best hand still in takes the whole pot, even when it went all-in for less than the others. Go all-in for 100 scrap against 2 players who put in 500 each, show the best hand, and you collect all 1,100, not only the 300 your 100 could match.

So a short stack plays for everything the others put in, and a big bet that somebody else calls can all go to a player who was all-in for a fraction of it.

Poker hands, strongest first

The card table ranks hands the standard way. You play the best five of your seven cards: your two and the five on the board.

  1. Royal flush Ace of spades King of spades Queen of spades Jack of spades 10 of spades Ace, king, queen, jack and ten of one suit.
  2. Straight flush 9 of hearts 8 of hearts 7 of hearts 6 of hearts 5 of hearts Five cards in a row, all of one suit.
  3. Four of a kind Queen of spades Queen of hearts Queen of diamonds Queen of clubs 7 of spades Four cards of one rank.
  4. Full house King of spades King of hearts King of diamonds 4 of spades 4 of hearts Three cards of one rank and two of another.
  5. Flush Ace of diamonds Jack of diamonds 8 of diamonds 6 of diamonds 2 of diamonds Five cards of one suit, not in a row.
  6. Straight 10 of spades 9 of hearts 8 of diamonds 7 of clubs 6 of spades Five cards in a row, of mixed suits.
  7. Three of a kind 7 of spades 7 of hearts 7 of diamonds King of spades 2 of clubs Three cards of one rank.
  8. Two pair Jack of spades Jack of hearts 4 of diamonds 4 of clubs Ace of spades Two cards of one rank and two of another.
  9. Pair Ace of spades Ace of hearts 9 of diamonds 6 of clubs 3 of spades Two cards of one rank.
  10. High card King of spades Jack of hearts 8 of diamonds 5 of clubs 2 of spades No pair, straight, or flush: the highest single card plays.

How RustPotato counts the odds

With a flop on the board and up to 3 opponents, RustPotato counts every deal that is still possible, so the answer is exact. Against more opponents it plays out 1,000,000 random deals instead. The same cards always get the same deals, so the same question always gets the same answer.

Before the flop the answer comes from the 169-hand starting chart: 10,000,000 random deals for each hand and each table size.

Every figure assumes that opponents hold any two cards and stay to the showdown. Players who are still betting usually hold better than that, so read a figure as a starting point, not as a promise.

An out in this poker odds calculator is a remaining deck card that turns your hand into a stronger hand category than you hold right now, and stronger than what the five community cards alone would give every active player at the table. Two pair counts only when one of your own hole cards makes the new pair: a card that pairs the board beside a pair you already hold gives that same second pair to the whole table. No out is promised to win at showdown: the list shows what improves your hand category, not what beats every opponent.

  • Flop enumeration: with three board cards dealt and up to three opponents, the calculator evaluates every possible turn, river, and opponent hole-card combination.
  • Turn enumeration: with four board cards dealt and one opponent, all forty-four remaining river cards and opponent two-card holdings are counted without sampling.
  • Monte Carlo fallback: pre-flop tables and multi-way pots with four or five opponents run random deals from the remaining deck to keep response times instant.
  • Turn outs highlight: every undealt card in the deck that improves your current five-card rank on the next street is marked directly on the card picker.

Comparing pot odds against hand equity at the Bandit Camp table

Pot odds measure the share of the final pot you must contribute to call a bet, which the Rust Poker Odds Calculator compares directly against your expected share of the pot from winning outright or splitting a tied showdown against active opponents.

When the scrap required to call is smaller than your hand’s expected pot share, calling gains scrap over repeated deals because Rust’s Texas Hold’em table charges zero house rake. Players comparing Bandit Camp games can also inspect exact house edges on the Blackjack Strategy, Wheel Calculator, and Slot Machine Odds tools.

How no-side-pot all-in rules change short-stack strategy in Rust

Unlike standard casino Texas Hold’em, the Rust card table creates no side pots when a short-stacked player goes all-in, meaning the strongest five-card hand at showdown collects every scrap placed into the middle even if deeper stacks keep betting on later streets.

Because an all-in short stack competes for the entire pot, sitting down with the minimum scrap buy-in gives your premium starting hands full leverage over big-stack raises on later streets, while big stacks should avoid bloating the pot when a short stack is already committed.

Questions about poker in Rust

What are the blinds at the poker table in Rust?

The small blind at the Rust poker table is 5 scrap and the big blind is 10 scrap on every hand. Both blind amounts stay fixed no matter how long the table runs or how deep the stacks grow, and there is no ante.

How much scrap do I need to sit down at a poker table in Rust?

Sitting down at a poker table in Rust requires a buy-in between 100 and 1,000 scrap from your inventory. Once you occupy a seat at the card table, you need at least 10 scrap remaining in your stack to be dealt into the next hand.

Is there a rake on poker in Rust?

The poker table in Rust takes no house rake and charges no fee on any hand. Every piece of scrap put into the pot by the players stays on the felt and is paid out in full to the winning hand at showdown.

What happens when I go all-in for less than the others in Rust poker?

Going all-in for less than the other players in Rust poker still leaves you playing for the entire pot. Because the card table builds no side pots, a short stack who calls all-in and shows the best five-card hand at showdown collects every matched bet in the pot.

What happens if my timer runs out at the poker table in Rust?

Running out of time at the Rust poker table folds your hand immediately. Each player has 30 seconds to act on a turn, and letting the turn clock expire forfeits your cards and matched bets even when checking would have cost nothing.

How many players can play poker in Rust?

A poker hand in Rust takes from 2 to 6 active players, depending on which card table you sit at. Monuments and player bases can use card tables built with 2, 3, 4, and 6 seats, and a hand starts as soon as 2 seated players have enough scrap.

Are the odds of this Rust poker calculator exact?

On the flop, the Rust Poker Odds Calculator enumerates every possible remaining board and opponent hand for heads-up, 3-handed, and 4-handed pots (up to 3 opponents), and runs 1,000,000 Monte Carlo deals for 4 or 5 opponents (and multi-way turns) assuming random opponent hole cards.
